Curtain poles and blinds fitted in Carlow
Curtain poles come out of the wall for one reason: the plaster above a window is often hiding a steel or concrete lintel, and a plug pushed into the plaster in front of it is holding the curtains by a few millimetres of skim.
Fitting is hourly: €50 an hour, two-hour minimum, labour only. One pole is a short job, so most people use the visit for every window in the house at once.

What I fit
- Curtain poles, single and double, wood or metal
- Curtain tracks, including bendable tracks for bay windows
- Roller, Venetian and Roman blinds, inside the reveal or on the face of the wall
- Poles and brackets that have pulled out, refitted into something solid and the old holes filled
- Tie-backs, hooks and the small fittings that come in the same box
Why the window wall is the awkward one
Directly above most windows is the lintel. Concrete takes the right drill and plug and then holds well. Steel lintels need the bracket placed so it misses the steel or fixes properly into it. In timber-framed and plasterboard walls the bracket wants the framing around the window opening. None of this is visible from the room, which is why poles fitted in a hurry come down.
Blinds inside a window reveal have the opposite problem: the reveal is narrow and often has the window frame screws just under the surface. Measuring before ordering saves a blind that is a centimetre too wide.
Getting a price
Tell me how many windows, what is going up on each, and send a photo or two. A written price comes back on WhatsApp. If the poles or blinds are not bought yet, I can tell you the sizes to order.
