TV wall mounting in Carlow
Hanging a television is mostly about the wall behind it. The bracket goes on in minutes; the part that takes judgement is knowing what the screws are going into, and whether that will still be holding the weight in five years.
I charge by the hour: €50, with a two-hour minimum, labour only. A single bracket on a sound wall usually fits inside the minimum, which leaves time for a shelf, a mirror or the curtain pole that has been waiting.

What the job includes
- Fixed, tilting and full-motion (swing-arm) brackets — yours, or tell me the TV and I will say which kind suits the wall
- Finding studs in plasterboard, or the right fixings for block and brick
- The set level, at a height worked out from where you actually sit
- Cables tidied into a surface trunking run, painted to the wall if you want it
- Soundbars and shelves for a box or console under the screen
The wall decides the price, not the TV
Most houses around Carlow have two kinds of wall in the same room. Outside walls and older party walls are block or brick: heavy-duty plugs, straightforward, holds anything. Internal walls in anything built from the seventies on are often plasterboard on a timber or metal frame, and a full-motion bracket on plasterboard has to land on the studs or use fixings made for the load — a large screen on an extending arm puts a lot of leverage on four screws.
A photo of the wall, with a light switch or socket in the frame for scale, usually tells me which you have. If it does not, I will check before drilling rather than after.
What I do not do
I do not move or add sockets behind the TV. That is electrical work, and in Ireland it is for a registered electrician. Cables can run in surface trunking to an existing socket; if you want them inside the wall with a new outlet, get an electrician to do that part first and I will hang the set after.
