Flat-pack furniture assembled in Carlow
Flat-pack is designed to be built by anyone, and most of it can be. What goes wrong is the tall pieces: a wardrobe built lying down that will not stand up under a low ceiling, doors that never quite line up, and drawers that go in crooked because the carcass was racked when the back went on.
Assembly is hourly — €50 an hour, two-hour minimum, labour only. A wardrobe or a bed frame typically fits in the minimum; a room of furniture is better done in one visit.

What I assemble
- Wardrobes, including sliding-door and corner units
- Beds, bunk beds and cots
- Chests of drawers, bedside tables, desks and bookcases
- TV units, sideboards and storage systems
- Garden furniture and sheds that arrive flat
- Anything that arrived with a part missing — I will tell you which one, so you can order it
Fixing it to the wall
Tall furniture comes with an anti-tip strap for a reason, and most of it never gets fitted because the screws in the box are for one kind of wall only. I fit it into whatever your wall actually is. If there are small children in the house, that is the most important ten minutes of the job.
When it is better built than bought
If the space is an alcove, the slope under a stair, or a run of wall where nothing off the shelf fits the height, built-in carpentry is the other option, from €850. The photo here is that: a wardrobe built floor to ceiling for its space.
Getting a price
Send the names of the items, or a photo of the boxes, on WhatsApp. That is enough to estimate the hours, and you get the price in writing before I come.
