Shelves put up in Carlow
A shelf that sags or pulls out of the wall is almost never a bad shelf. It is a fixing chosen for the wall the installer expected rather than the one that was there.
Putting up shelves is hourly work: €50 an hour, two-hour minimum, labour only. Shelving built into an alcove or a recess — made to measure rather than bought — is carpentry, from €850.

Bought or built
If you have bought the shelves, I fit them — hourly. If the space is awkward, an alcove that is not square, a recess under the stairs, a wall that wants storage from floor to ceiling, then a shelf from a shop will leave gaps, and it is better built to fit. That is a carpentry job and it starts at €850, priced in writing from photos and rough measurements.

What decides how long it takes
The wall, again. Block and brick take a standard heavy fixing. Plasterboard needs the shelf placed on the studs or hung on fixings rated for what it will carry — books are far heavier than people expect. Floating shelves take longest, because the bracket has to be dead level before the shelf slides on and hides any mistake for good.
Several shelves in one visit are cheaper per shelf than one at a time, because the two-hour minimum is covered by the first.
