Room painting in Carlow
The difference between a room that looks freshly painted and one that looks like it has had paint on it is almost all in the preparation: cracks filled, old patches sanded flat, edges cut in cleanly, and the floor and furniture still clean at the end.
Painting a room starts at €250. The price depends on the size of the room, the state of the walls, and whether ceilings, woodwork and doors are included.

What a room includes
- Floor and furniture covered before anything is opened
- Cracks and holes filled, and sanded flat once dry
- Walls and ceilings, two coats or as many as the colour change needs
- Skirting, architrave, doors and window boards if you want them done
- Fittings and sockets masked or taken off, and put back
- The room left clean, with the dust sheets lifted last
Walls that need more than paint
Paint shows up whatever is under it. A wall with a lot of old repairs, blown plaster or artex is better skimmed first, otherwise the patches show through the new colour as soon as light runs across it. That is plastering, from €150, and I will say from your photos whether a wall needs it rather than find out halfway through the first coat.
Dark to light colour changes and new plaster both take more coats, which is the other thing that moves the price.
